Ric, a resident of Frederick, is President & CEO of the Frederick County Chamber of Commerce. A native of Frederick, Ric is responsible for the complete operations of the Chamber, including formulating, planning, organizing, recommending and administering all policies and programs, as well as managing staff. This is a rather new position for Ric, having recently retired as Public Affairs Manager for State Farm Insurance for almost 30 years. He earned is B.A. in history and political science from Bridgewater College. Ric has always been active in his community and has held leadership roles in the Rotary Club, Hood College Board of Associates, United Way of Frederick County, Career and Technology Council, and Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he has taught Sunday School for more than 13 years. He is an avid gardener and a member of Frederick’s Men’s Garden Club. Ric and his wife enjoy dancing and hosting dinner parties. |

JAMES M. ANTHONY
James, a resident of Chestertown in Kent County, is President & CEO of Chesapeake Bank & Trust (CBT), a position he has held since 2004. CBT is a community bank which focuses on the needs of the upper eastern shore of Maryland. Prior to joining the banking world, James was a business consultant for McKinsey & Co., Diamond Cluster International and Mid-Atlantic Technical. James earned his B.S and masters in engineering from the University of Maryland-College Park, and his M.B.A. in finance and marketing from the University of Chicago, and is a graduate of Stonier Graduate School of Banking. He was named Student Employee of the Year at the University of Maryland. James volunteers his time and talents to the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy and Rotary International. In his free time he enjoys historic restoration, volunteering, sailing and skiing. |

BRIAN N. BOLENDER
Brian, a resident of Wilmington, Delaware, is an Associate with Vollmer Associate, LLP, located in Elkton. In this role, Brian is the Director for the Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware regions for this full service architectural and engineering firm, headquartered in NYC. Brian has over-sight of five offices and a $10 million annual budget. He earned his B.S. in civil engineering from Virginia Tech, where he was awarded a National Engineering Scholarship, and his Masters in business administration from Goldey-Beacom College. Brian contributes his time and expertise to the Cecil County Chamber of Commerce, Skyline Praise Band, Boys and Girls Club and the Cecil Soccer League. He is well entrenched in the community and is dedicated to the planned growth of Cecil County. Brian enjoys participating in Church activities and singing. |

DR. MEREDITH BOND
Meredith, a resident of Baltimore, is a professor and Chair of the Department of Physiology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. In addition to teaching, she is responsible for biomedical research projects, including collaborative investigations with cardiologists and cardiac surgeons, as well as training Ph.D. students, mentoring junior faculty, directing an NIH funded research lab and chairing school-wide committees. She has recruited brilliant young scientists to her department who are performing cutting edge science in new research frontiers, such as genomics and proteomics. Meredith earned her B.A. in biology from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia, her Ph.D. in physiology and her Post-doctoral fellow in physiology from the University of Pennsylvania. Meredith is active with Rotary Inter-national, and is an advocate for philanthropic support for the School of Medicine. She enjoys hiking, cross-country skiing, classical music and wine. |

ERIC L. BRENNER Eric, a resident of Silver Spring, is Director of the Governor’s Grants Office in Annapolis. This office assists state and local governments and non-profit organizations in finding, winning and managing grant funds in support of the organization’s goals and mission. They also ensure that Maryland receives its fair share of federal funds in comparison to other states. Specifically, Eric is responsible for directing all aspects of the office, including managing publications, training and outreach with the community. Eric earned his B.A. in political science from Duke University, his L.L.M. in international law from Hull University in England, and his M.P.A. in public administration from Harvard University. This busy leader contributes his time and talents to Northwood High School PTA (immediate past president), Montgomery County Pre-Release Services Citizens Advisory Committee, Institute for Democracy in South Africa Policy Advisory Board, and Forest Estates Community Association. Eric enjoys bicycling and reading. |

MARTIN P. ‘Marty’ BRUNK
Marty is a resident of Lutherville and is managing director of RSM McGladrey, Inc., in Timonium, an international accounting, tax and consulting firm, which is the 5th largest in the country. He is co-leader of a 300-person mid-Atlantic audit practice, and a member of the senior management team for the 650-person mid-Atlantic region. A recipient of numerous academic awards and scholarships, Marty earned his B.S. in accounting from Mount Saint Mary’s University. He has focused his community service since 1999 on the Maryland Food Bank (MFB), having created and co-chaired its Blue Jean Ball in 2006 that netted the organization $150,000. He also helped engineer the move of the MFB to a new 87,000 square foot facility by helping raise $7.2 million. He is currently orchestrating the transition of the organization’s long-time director, Bill Ewing (LMD Class of ’96 alumnus), who is retiring, to a new executive director. Marty enjoys local, domestic and international travel. He is a 1996 graduate of the The Leadership-Greater Baltimore Committee. |

DR. LINDA D. BURGEE Linda, a resident of Frederick, is Superintendent of Frederick County Public Schools, which has been her only employer since she graduated from college. Frederick County Public Schools is a suburban school district serving over 40,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12, and employs over 5,000. Linda earned her B.S. in elementary education from Towson University, her M.S. in elementary curriculum and instruction, and her Administration & Supervision Certification from Hood College. She went on to earn her Ed.D. in educational leadership from NOVA University in Fort Lauderdale. Considered an excellent communicator, Linda contributes her time and expertise to Eliminate the Achievement Gap, Inc., Committee for Frederick County, Rotary Club of Frederick, and the PTA Council of Frederick County. In her free time she loves to travel and read. |

PAUL W. COMFORT
Paul, a resident of Charles County, is the newly appointed County Administrator for Charles County. Formerly, he was the County Administrator for Queen Anne’s County, a position he has held since 2003. Prior to that, he held positions with Yellow Transportation and Laidlaw Transportation. In his current position, Paul is the appointed CEO of county government and reports to the county commissioners. He develops and administers the $85 million county budget and is responsible for the overall operations of local government. Paul earned is A.A. in humanities and social sciences from Chesapeake College, his B.A. (cum laude) in history from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County, and his J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law. He currently serves as President of the County Administrative Officers Association of Maryland, and on the board of Maryland Environ-mental Services. Paul coaches youth soccer for the Queen Anne’s County Independent Soccer League, and is a member of the Queen Anne’s County Chamber of Commerce. He enjoys reading, playing piano, singing, raising six children, watching Redskins football and public speaking. |

JOHN F. CONWELL, ESQ.
John, a resident of Cheverly in Prince George’s County, is the newly appointed Regional Vice President of Government Affairs-Potomac Region for Comcast. Formerly, he was legal and regulatory Counsel for the Cable Telecommunications Association of MD/DE/DC, a trade association for cable television companies, where he was responsible for the government and public affairs activities of the association, including local, state and federal legislative and regulatory efforts. This Eagle Scout earned his B.A. in political science from the University of Oklahoma, and his J.D. from Villanova University School of Law. John is a Unit Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America, a competition judge for the FCBA National Telecommunications Moot Court, and is a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church Katrina Relief Task Force. He serves on the Peer Review Committee of the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland, and still finds time to enjoy woodworking, photography and current events. |

OLVALDINA GOMES ‘Dina’ DALY
Dina, a resident of Easton in Talbot County, is Director of the Caroline County Department of Social Services, overseeing services relating to children and adults, foster/adoption, child support, child care, energy assis-tance, cash assistance, food stamps, medical assistance, and workforce development. Dina earned her B.A. in sociology from Suffolk University, and her masters in social work from the University of Maryland-Baltimore. Concerned with the low number of candidates who applied to the Talbot County College Assistance Fund, she and her husbanded founded Building African American Minds, Inc. (BAAM), a non-profit organization. Both of these organizations focus on helping African-American male students. The college fund provides funding to students pursuing a 4-year college degree, and BAAM is currently sponsoring 5 students. BAAM also has an after-school educational enrichment program targeted at first grade African-American students who are identified as being at-risk, educationally or socially. Dina is a member of the Women & Girls Fund Advisory Board. She enjoys reading and bicycling. |

DAVID J. DeLUCA
David, a resident of Cambridge, is President and CEO of Delco Packaging Products, Inc., in Hurlock, which is a full line distributor of packaging materials that supplies manufacturers, food processors and distribution centers in the mid-Atlantic region. As owner, David wears many hats, including sales manager, purchasing agent, inventory control and logistics manager. This Dean’s List student earned his B.B.A. in management from James Madison University. He brings a multi-faceted business experience to the organizations with which he is active, including St. Mary’s Refuge of Sinners, Habitat for Humanity, Summersea Condo Association and Bringing the Vision to Life Capital Campaign. David enjoys hunting, motor-cycling, reading and walking. |

MICHAEL M. ‘Mike’ DREISBACH
Mike is owner and partner of Savage River Lodge (SRL), a 45-acre four-season destination resort/conference center in Frostburg that he developed with his wife. The Lodge is nestled in the Savage River State Forest, providing a peaceful retreat from a busy world. Whether an hour-long meeting, a week-long training session, corporate breakfast, elegant evening reception, or just a peaceful, private place to brainstorm, SRL is flexible and accommodating. They also offer numerous other fun and relaxing activities if you’re looking for a week-end getaway. Mike earned his A.A. degree from Hagerstown Junior College and his B.S. from Frostburg State University. He founded Hagerstown’s Habitat for Humanity and continues to serve on its board. He also is active with the Savage River Advisory Board, Frostburg State University School of Business, Western Maryland Food Bank and the YMCA. Mike enjoys all types of outdoor activities, including cross-country skiing, hunting, hiking and fly-fishing, and his best friend, Bodhi, a beautiful yellow lab, is never far from his side. |

Mickey is a resident of Chestertown and is the Owner/Principal of Elsberg Associates/E*Cash, Inc., dual businesses which he runs from his home office. Elsberg Associates is a merchandising and marketing consulting company. E*Cash has a national client base which provides clients (predom-inantly non-profit organizations) the ability to accept credit cards. Locally, Mickey handles card services for the merchant customers of Peoples Bank. Mickey earned his B.A. with Honors in drama from Cornell University and his Ll.b./J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center. His volunteer community service is extensive and includes For All Seasons (private non-profit regional mental health agency), Sultana Projects, Inc., Chester Valley Ministers Association, Kent County Economic Development Advisory Board and the Mid-Shore Community Foundation. BRENDAN D. FITZSIMMONS Brendan, a resident of Williamsport, is Senior Vice President-Invest-ments/Branch Manager for Ferris Baker Watts, Inc.(FBW) in Hagerstown. FBW is an investment brokerage firm with a focus on the retail investor. Brendan and his partner manage several hundred million dollars for their clients. Brendan earned his B.A. in music and history from Swarthmore College and his M.A. in historical musicology from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. It’s no surprise, given his love for music that Brendan serves as Board President for the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, which consumes much of his time. He also contributes his time and talents to the Washington County Historical Society, Maryland Historical Society and the Assembly Club of Hagerstown. Brendan thoroughly enjoys escaping into a good book and routinely sets aside time in the evening to do so. He and his wife also spend time together performing music -- Katie sings and Brendan plays piano. |

BONNIE MARIE GREEN Bonnie, a resident of St. Inigoes, is Executive Director of The Patux-ent Partnership, a unique membership organization of government, academia and industry, which fosters the promotion and development of the tech community in southern Maryland by advocating regional technology, fostering workforce and infrastructure development and creating opportunities for collaboration. Bonnie earned her B.A. (with Honors) in social science from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and her M.B.A. in business/government from The George Washington University. Shelly, a resident of Stevensville on Kent Island, is President and CEO of Prince George’s Financial Services Corporation (FSC First). FSC First is a non-traditional lender providing access to capital for small and minority-owned businesses in Prince George’s County, and throughout the state, by utilizing various state, federal and local financing programs to complement the SBA financing programs, as well as traditional sources of capital. Shelly earned her A.A. in business from Anne Arundel Community College, and her B.S. in management from the University of Maryland University College. ROSLYN M. HANNIBAL-BOOKER Roslyn, a resident of Rosedale, is Director of Development for the Maryland Center for Veterans Education and Training (MCVET), an annual site visit for each LMD class. MCVET provides homeless and other veterans in need with comprehensive services that enable them to rejoin their commu-nities as productive citizens. They house up to 250 veterans daily, providing a full continuum of services. Roslyn is responsible for grant writing and planning, implementing and managing a full-service development and communications program, as well as administrative responsibilities including human resources, staff development and training. She earned her B.S.W. from Coppin State College, and has completed other training in fundraising management at Goucher College and sign language at the Hearing and Speech Agency of Maryland. JOHN L. HUGGINS, JR. John, a resident of Accokeek, made the entrepreneur leap in 1995 to found Quality Telecommunication Services, Inc (QTS). He serves as President and CEO of this telecommunications company that designs, installs, maintains and tests voice/data/video cable networks. John retired from the United States Air Force after having served for over 20 years. He is the recipient of a telecom industry award from the Armed Forces Communications-Electronics Association. John earned his B.S. in industrial engineering technology from Southern Illinois University, his M.B.S. in compu-ter resource management, and his M.B.A. in procurement and acquisition from Webster University. He contributes his time and expertise to the Prince George’s Black Chamber of Commerce, Prince George’s County Public Schools, South County Economic Development Association, 100 Black Men of Maryland and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity. RADM CHARLES B. ‘Bert’ JOHNSTON (Ret.) USN Bert, a resident of Chaptico, is Vice President-Systems Engineering Division for Wyle Laboratories, which provides technical services in support of naval aviation acquisitions. In this role, he is general manager for four operat-ing units with revenues of some $200 million. This former Vice Commander, Naval Air Systems Command, United States Navy, retired from military duty in 2005, having achieved the rank of Rear Admiral. Bert earned his B.S. in aero engineering from Mississippi State University, his M.S. in aero engineering from the University of North Florida (Valedictorian), and his M.S. in aero systems from the Naval Post Graduate School. His volunteer community activities include the Navy League, Rotary, Christmas in April and the Nation-al Defense Industrial Association. In his leisure time Bert enjoys golf, biking and cooking. |

ROBIN S. KABLE
Robin, a resident of Westminster, is Coordinator of Business and Community Partnerships for Carroll County Public Schools, a school system with approximately 28,000 students. Formerly, Robin was with IBM for 13 years, and was owner/developer of Kable Animal Hospital in Westminster. She earned her B.S in education from the University of Maryland, where she was active in Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority, the Athletic Association, Pan Hellenic Society and various philanthropic organizations. Robin is extremely active in her community as evidenced by her commitment to the Carroll County Mentoring Connection, Westminster Neighborhood Association, Carroll Child Care Centers, Library Strategic Planning Board, Carroll Community College, and Carroll County Chamber of Commerce. JAMES W. ‘Jim’ LEWIS Jim, a resident of Greensboro, is Caroline County Extension Director and Ag Agent for the University of Maryland Cooperative Extension, a non-formal statewide education system within the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Jim manages the daily activities of the Caroline office, directs programming for agriculture and natural resources, nutrient manage-ment, supervises youth education and family wellness programs. Concurrent-ly, Jim also is a self-employed farmer. He earned his B.S. in agronomy-crop science and his M.S. in agronomy-weed science from the University of Maryland, while working full-time as a farmer and taxidermist. This busy leader still finds time to volunteer with the Caroline County Planning Commission, Caroline County Farm Bureau, Caroline North Little League and the Choptank Ruritan Club. |

CHARLES J. LOLLAR
Charles, a resident of Newburg, is General Manager of Cintas Corporation in Landover. Cintas Corporation, “the uniform people” provides uniforms, facility services and other image enhancing products to over 6,000 businesses throughout central Maryland and Washington, DC. Charles oversees, develops and trains over 20 managers and supervisors, and 164 partners of this $22 million sales organization. Additionally, Charles is a Senior Minister for Trinity Christian Center, and continues to serve in the USMC Reserves. He earned his B.S. (with Honors) in political science and philosophy from Kennesaw State University, and his M.B.A. in human resources from Regent University. He also is a graduate of the Paul Coverdell Leadership Institute. Charles contributes his time and expertise to the board of the Maryland Chamber of Commerce, and served as campaign chairman for Al Smith in his bid for President of the Charles County Commissioners. N. ROXANNE ‘Rockie’ LYNCH
Rockie, a resident of Havre de Grace, is Director of the Harford County Office of Government & Community Relations. Her office provides information and mediation to constituents when they have concerns or mis-understandings with other county departments. Additionally, Rockie is the public spokesperson for the County Executive, and is the liaison to elected municipal, state and congressional officials. She earned her A.A. in business administration from Harford Community College, and her B.S. in business administration from the University of Baltimore. Rockie is extremely active in the volunteer arena in Harford County where she serves as treasurer of Havre de Grace High School Music Boosters, as a catechist/teacher at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, and serves on the boards of Harford Community Action Agency, Lower Susquehanna Heritage Greenway and Harford Cable Net-work. JOHN H. MACKLIN
John took the entrepreneurial leap in 1987 and founded JHM Research & Development, Inc., where he serves and President and CEO. His company provides records management services for government agencies, including Homeland Security, FDA and NIH. His company was rated 73 out of the top 100 IT businesses in 2005 by Washington Technology -- it's the definitive list of major players in the federal IT market. This college marathon runner earned his B.A. in mathematics from Tennessee State University and completed the Minority Business Executive Program at Dartmouth College’s Amos Tuck School of Business Administration. John serves as Secretary of the Board for the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, and is active with Leadership Montgomery and PRT-One. He also is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Montgomery. |

DR. MICHAEL J. ‘Mike’ MARTIRANO Mike, a resident of Leonardtown, is Superintendent of Schools for St. Mary’s County Public Schools, a position he has held since 2005. Previously, he held positions in the schools systems of Howard, Prince George’s and Montgomery counties. Mike earned his B.S. in science education, a M.Ed. in counseling and personnel services, and a M.Ed. in education planning, development and administration from the University of Maryland College Park. He went on to earn his Ed.D. in school management and institutional leadership from Nova Southeastern University. He is the recipient of numerous education-related awards. Mike is active in his community as evidenced by his involvement with the Public School Superintendent’s Association of Maryland, Washington Area School Study Council, St. Mary’s County Chamber of Commerce, Business, Education and Community Alliance, and the American Association of School Administrators. S. JAMES ‘Jim’ MAZARAKIS Jim, a resident of Cockeysville, is Chief Technology Officer for T. Rowe Price, a global asset management firm headquartered in Baltimore. T. Rowe Price manages $250 billion for its 2.6 million customers. Jim formerly held positions with Capital One Financial, and J.P. Morgan Asset Manage-ment. He was named one of the nation’s Top 5 Financial Services CIO’s by Wall Street and Technology in 2001. This Honor Society student earned his B.S. in business from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institution, where he served as business manager of the University’s Engineering magazine and editor of their management newsletter. He went on to earn his M.S. in technology from Polytechnic University. Jim contributes his time and expertise to his alma mater to help improve the University’s ability to attract culturally diverse students and assist the students through the difficult adjustment process of relocating to the United States. HONORABLE GARY D. MAYNARD
Gary, a resident of Towson, is new to Maryland. Recognizing his outstanding leadership qualities and extensive correctional administrative experience, Governor Martin O’Malley appointed Gary to serve as Secretary of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services. He oversees 11,500 employees who run the state’s 17 prisons, probation and parole systems and the Baltimore City jail. Previously, Gary served in comparable positions in Iowa, South Carolina and Oklahoma. He earned his B.D. in sociology from East Central University (Oklahoma), and his M.A. in rehabilitation counseling from Oklahoma State University. He has served as President of the American Corrections Association (ACA), as a Commis-sioner, and as an auditor/consultant for ACA’s Commission on Accreditation for Corrections. In addition, he served as Adjutant General of the Oklahoma Army and Air National Guard and the Oklahoma Cabinet Secretary for Veterans’ Affairs. Gary also has served as an instructor and adjunct professor for several universities, and is the author of the 15th Edition of Correction Officer, Thomson Publications. DR. BESS McCALLISTER
Bess, a resident of Crisfield, is Senior Pastor of St. Paul AME Church. She also is the owner of Delmarva Business Investment Group, doing business as MaidPro of Salisbury Cleaning Services for residential and commercial customers. Prior to taking the entrepreneurial leap, Bess retired after 20 years as Administrator/Supervisor of Maryland State Child Support. She lists her greatest achievements as the development of male empower-ment programs, assisting small business start-ups, and helping write father’s programs in Baltimore City. Bess earned her B.S. in psychological services from Coppin State University, her Masters in theological education from St. Mary’s Seminary and University, and her Doctor of Divinity from Wesley Theological Seminary. Her volunteer community involvement includes leadership positions with Help Our Children Foundation, Business Navigation Forum, Baltimore Conference Ministerial Alliance and Crisfield Ministerial Alliance. WILLIAM J. ‘Bill’ McLENNAN, SR. Bill, a resident of Sparks, is Executive Director of Paul’s Place, Inc., a non-profit organization that brings stability to the lives of southwest Baltimore residents by improving their health, providing them structure for their children, and helping them avoid eviction. Previously, Bill was Associate Director for the Maryland Food Bank for several years. He earned his B.A. in political science from the University of Richmond, and went on to continue his studies with the Weinberg Fellows Program. He is the 2006 recipient of the Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation Achievement in Management for Excellence Award. Bill’s volunteer community involvement is extensive, and includes the Fuel Fund of Maryland, United Way of Central Maryland, Department of Human Resources Grant Committee, and the Baltimore City FEMA Board. HONORABLE KEIFFER J. MITCHELL, JR. Keiffer, a resident of Baltimore, is a City Councilman for Baltimore City, serving since 1995. He also is employed with Harbor Bank of Maryland in business development. A former history teacher and coach at Boys’ Latin School, Keiffer earned his B.A. in political science from Emory University and his J.D. from the District of Columbia School of Law. During his law school years, he served in two prestigious positions: one, as a White House Intern during the Clinton Administration, and as a law clerk for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund. He also worked for the Maryland Public Defender's Office and for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, a division of the Demo-cratic National Committee. This busy politician still finds time to volunteer to benefit the Family Tree, Midtown Academy, Habitat for Humanity and Boys’ Latin School. Keiffer enjoys writing, golf and history. |

HERBERT J. ‘Herb’ MOLTZAN
Herb, a resident of Ellicott City, is Regional President of Community Banks in Owings Mills. Formerly, Herb held positions with the National Credit Union Administration and the U.S. Postal Service. He earned his B.S. in accounting (cum laude) from the State University of New York-Buffalo. Herb is extremely involved in the volunteer sector as evidenced by his involvement with the Rotary Club of Columbia, where he serves as its primary fundraiser, raising over $30,000 of support annually. Much of Herb’s volunteer time involves youth programs, such as The 1st Tee of Howard County, where golf is used to teach life skills; and, Camp Attaway, a summer camp for youth with behavioral problems. He also holds leadership positions with the Columbia Festival of the Arts and the Better Business Bureau’s Education Foundation. ANDREW A. ‘Andy’ MOSER
Andy, a resident of Edgewater, is the Assistant Secretary of the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation. Prior to his appointment, he served as President and CEO of Anne Arundel Workforce Development Corporation (AAWDC). AAWDC is a quasi-governmental public non-profit dedicated to assisting employers, educational entities, government and job seekers attain their potential in workforce development. AAWDC is in the business of establishing partnerships - connecting employers with employees. In 2006, AAWDC was awarded the National Association of Counties’ Workforce Development Award of Excellence. Andy earned his B.A. (magna cum laude) in history from Rowan University, and his Masters in business from the University of Maryland College Park. He serves his community by volunteering with Leadership Anne Arundel, Selby on the Bay Community Association, BWI Development Council and as Board chair of the Maryland Institute for Workforce Excellence. Andy enjoys family activities, running, cycling, weight training, sports cars, cooking and cinema. He is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Anne Arundel. |

W. CHRISTOPHER ‘Chris’ MOTZ
Chris, a resident of Waynesboro, PA, is President of Hagerstown Business College (HBC), a position he has held since 1997. Founded in 1938, HBC is unique among Maryland colleges in that it is a private for-profit, two-year college offering degrees and certificates in allied health, business, computer technology and legal studies. This Honor student earned his B.A. in religion and his M.C.M. in Christian ministry from Huntington College (Indiana), and his M.A. in higher education from Ball State University. Currently, Chris contributes his time and expertise to the Mason-Dixon Council Boy Scouts of America as Council Vice President, and is a member of the Greater Hagerstown Committee and the Rotary Club of Hagerstown. Additionally, he is going on the Board of his church. In his leisure time, you’ll find Chris camping, canoeing, and hiking. He is also a Civil War history buff. |

PATRICIA A. ‘Pat’ MURPHY, Ph.D.
Pat, a resident of Ellicott City, is Chief People Officer of Burt Hill in Washington D.C. Previously, she was Vice President-Organizational Development, Diversity & Learning with Choice Hotels International, where she led the training and education departments, diversity initiatives, management development, and served as the executive director of the Choice Foundation. An Honors student, Pat earned her A.B. in science education from Earlham College, her M.Ed. in research, measurement and evaluation from Boston College, and her Ph.D. in measurement, statistics and evaluation from the University of Maryland. Currently, this busy leader chairs the Misako Ballet Board of Directors and is a volunteer coordinator for Seton Keough Theatre Parents. Pat enjoys serving on non-profit arts boards, doing stained glass, and aiding students with college applications whose parents did not attend college. |

MILTON E. ‘Milt’ NAGEL Milt, a resident of Federalsburg, is Chief Operating Officer for the Caroline County Board of Education, a school system of ten schools, 800 employees, 5,600 students, and an operating budget of $52 million. Milt oversees all support service functions, including finance, construction, trans-portation, food service and maintenance. He formerly was a senior account-ant with a private certified public accounting firm. This Honor Society student earned his B.S. in accounting from the University of Delaware where he also served in the Army ROTC. He is a founding member of South Caroline United by Athletics (SCUBA), and helped to convince county government to purchase land and develop an athletic complex. He continues to serve in leadership roles with South Caroline Little League, CARCO Federal Credit Union, Provident State Bank and the Association of School Business Officials. Milt enjoys coaching youth sports, spending time with his family, golf, farming, and music. |

BARBARA D. ‘Barb’ NAZELROD, Ph.D.
Barb, a resident of Baltimore, is President of The Catholic High School of Baltimore, which is an independent school, grades 9-12, for young women. The school is sponsored by the Sisters of St. Francis of Philadelphia. Formerly, Barb was an English teacher and assistant principal in Baltimore County. This Dean’s List student earned her B.A. in English from Mount St. Agnes/Loyola College, her M.Ed. in education from Loyola College, and her Ph.D. in education from the University of Maryland College Park. Barb is a Eucharistic Minister at Good Samaritan Hospital; and, serves on the boards of St. Clement Mary Hofbauer School and the Archdiocese of Baltimore. She also is a committee chair with the National Catholic Education Association. In her leisure time, you’ll find Barb exercising, reading and discussing current events. |

LAWRENCE S. ‘Larry’ OTTINGER, ESQ.
Larry, a resident of Chevy Chase, was recently appointed president of the Center for Lobbying in the Public Interest, a Washington D.C.-based organization that promotes and protects non-profit advocacy and lobbying and trains 501(c)(3)’s for public policy engagement. Larry formerly served as the Director of Policy and Leadership Development for the Fannie Mae Foundation where he directed policy strategy, partnerships and grant programs, and served as editor of the Foundation’s quarterly policy newsletter, Housing Facts & Findings. He received his B.A. in social science from the University of California at Berkeley, earning highest honors in the social science field; and, his J.D. from Stanford Law School. Larry is the Chair of the Ottinger Foundation, where he has been successful in leveraging grants with other funders on important anti-poverty initiatives. He is active with Help the Homeless, Montgomery County Schools and Recreation Leagues, and is a volunteer lawyer for Election Protection. Larry enjoys spending time with his family and friends, and playing sports. |

EFFIE R. REYNOLDS
Effie, a resident of Baltimore, recently retired from her position as Director of Small Business Assistance with the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development (DBED). Effie provided guidance to business owners and aspiring entre-preneurs, and manages financing, permits, licensing and technical assis-tance. Effie earned her B.A. (cum laude) in business administration from Sojourner Douglass College, and continued her studies in applied behavioral science at Johns Hopkins University Continuing Studies. Her volunteer community activities include the Southwest Baltimore Charter School, Edmondson Alumni, and is membership secretary for Heritage United Church of Christ. Effie enjoys gardening, public speaking, decorating and traveling. |

C. TOLBERT ROWE Tolbert, a resident of Greensboro, is President of Community Bank Mortgage in Easton, which is a subsidiary of Provident State Bank. Previously, Tolbert was a Senior Loan Officer with SunTrust Bank. He earned his B.S. (cum laude) in government and public administration from the University of Baltimore, and went on to become a legislative intern for Senator Walter Baker. Tolbert is an extremely busy leader contributing his time and expertise to the Caroline County School Board, of which he is currently President. He also volunteers with the Channel Marker Foundation, Caroline County Chamber of Commerce (Acting President) and is coach/treasurer for the Mid-Shore Challengers. In Tolbert’s leisure time he enjoys golf, fishing, reading, biking, traveling and collecting baseball memorabilia – especially Cal Ripken and Harold Baines. |

MANUEL J. SAMPEDRO Manuel, a resident of Baltimore, is Director-FiOS Operations for Maryland and Delaware for Verizon. Manuel’s division is responsible for the provisioning and maintenance of Verizon’s premier voice, data and video service. He provides direction for 600+ employees (55 management and 550 union employees) that provide installation and repair services associated with Verizon’s FiOS product. Manuel earned his B.A. in international business from Towson University, his M.B.A. in information systems from the University of Baltimore, and a Master’s certificate in project management from George Washington University. The community organizations that benefit from Manuel’s leadership include the Hispanic Leadership Network, Hispanic Support Organization, Perry Hall Children’s Center and Our Daily Bread. In his free time Manuel enjoys time with his family, especially vacations, travel, scuba, skiing, reading, riding, church and fitness activities. |

CAPT. MATTHEW T. ‘Matt’ SCASSERO Matt, a resident of Leonardtown, is Vice Commander of the Naval Air Warfare Center, Aircraft Division (NAWC-AD), at Patuxent River Naval Air Station. NAWC-AD is the business unit that covers all of the military and civilian employees (over 700) for Naval Air Systems Command at the Pax River complex, as well as Orlando and Lakehurst, NJ. Matt is charged with resource and workforce team leadership, as well as specific programs in diversity, small business and audits. Matt earned his B.S. in physics (oceanography) from the U.S. Naval Academy, where he sang in the Glee Club, and has completed numerous post-grad business courses and seminars. He is the first active duty military officer selected to participate in Leadership Maryland. Matt lends his time and talent to the Boy Scouts of American (den leader and chaplain), St. Mary’s Youth Soccer (coach), and is a lay Eucharistic minister and lector for his church, as well as ships’ chapels. Matt lists being a dad as his number one interest, followed by ice hockey, hunting, fishing, boating, camping, cooking, reading, history, and singing. |

Jane, a resident of Baltimore, is Assistant Vice President for Econom-ic Development for the University of Maryland-Baltimore (UMB), as well as Vice President of UMB’s Health Sciences Research Park Corporation (UMB BioPark). Jane is responsible for business and economic development for the university and the Office of Research and Development, as well as develop-ment of the BioPark, including management, operations, marketing, tenant recruitment, and community relations. Jeanne contributes considerable time to numerous organizations, including Heartly House, Women’s Giving Circle of Washington County, Hagerstown Soccer Club/YMCA, Friends of Safe Place, and the Mason Dixon Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Additionally, Jeanne was recently appointed by the Washington County Board of Commissioners to serve on the task force that will write and propose a Charter for Washington County to change forms of government. Mike, a resident of Olney, is Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, and Executive Director of Labs for National Public Radio in Washington D.C. Specifically, Mike heads technology research and development for network and 820 member stations nationwide. Mike studied journalism at the University of Maryland-Baltimore, and earned his B.S.L. in law and his J.D. in telecom law from National University in San Diego. He enjoys the volunteer community activities with which he is involved, such as Richardson Maritime Museum, Association of Public Radio Engineers, and the International Association of Audio Information Services. JOHN S. ‘Jack’ STEINMETZ Jack, a resident of Chestertown, is Director of Economic Develop-ment for Kent County, the second oldest county in Maryland, having been founded in 1642. Jack initiates and coordinates all activities related to retaining existing and attracting new businesses into Kent County. Formerly, Jack was President and CEO of Citizens Bank in Illinois. He earned his B.S. in finance from Marquette University, and his M.B.A. from the University of Detroit-Mercy. Although rather new to Maryland (3 years), Jack has already become significantly involved in the community as evidenced by his volunteerism with the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, Kent County Workforce Housing Task Force, SCORE of Kent County and the Rotary Club.
